Work from the bill path outward: validate the hardware, then the harness, then the payment configuration, before swapping any parts.

Seat and inspect the harness
Reseat the validator and deck harnesses and look for pinched or corroded connectors; a half-seated MDB plug mimics a dead validator.
Check MDB and payment configuration
Confirm the machine and validator agree on MDB versus pulse operation, enable the denominations you accept, and verify the setup menu configuration.
Isolate the payment system
Run the machine with only the validator connected, then add the coin mech and card reader one at a time so a failing accessory cannot mask the fault.
