Confirm compatibility before mounting.
Identify the machine controller, payment interface, firmware expectations, and power budget before ordering or installing a reader. Compatibility belongs to the exact machine configuration, not only the cabinet brand.
Treat the first vend as a complete workflow.
Test reader wake-up, customer authorization, selection, vend delivery, cancellation, receipt behavior, and a failed-vend path. Keep the machine in a safe test state while checking each outcome.
Leave an operator handoff.
Document the reader model, service contact, cable path, reset steps, settlement timing, and what telemetry is or is not available. The next technician should not have to rediscover the installation.
